A new study of Ohio State University found that higher blood levels of omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, known as linoleic associated with a reduced risk of heart disease and diabetes.
Usually, when it comes to reducing the risk of heart disease and diabetes, it`s always mentioned omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids.
It is well known that in a typical Western diet dominated by omega-6 fatty acids and then omega-3 fatty acids, which is not good as omega-6 fatty acids are pro-inflammatory activity and contribute to the formation of thrombi.
Linoleic acid is healthy for our body
However, this is a new study examined data from two earlier studies, which included 139 respondents at men and women.
They measured the levels of linoleic acid in red blood cells, and oleic acid (which is found in olive and other vegetable oils) as well as long-chain omega-3 fatty acid (containing fish).
In addition, was tested the activity at insulin resistance and inflammatory markers associated with various diseases.
The results showed that participants who had higher levels of linoleic acid also had less fat between the vital organs (threatening the heart), lean body mass and less inflammation in the body.
Also, with them were less likely to develop insulin resistance (which precedes diabetes).
Surprisingly, even though the indicators of inflammation decreased with the increase of all three types of fatty acids – linoleic, oleic and omega 3 – higher levels of oleic acids and long-chain omega-3 (animal) were not associated with a thinner body mass or lower risk of diabetes.
However, the problem is how to enter linoleic acid in a healthy way to our diet.
Linoleic acid is containing in the inexpensive oils that are producing for the consumers, such as sunflower, safflower and soybean.
Recent findings indicate that these oils are not recommended in the diet because they encourage inflammation and have a variety of other adverse effects.
Then what is a solution?
The researchers in this study recommended oil from grape seeds.
